Culture of Grass Carp Ctenopharyngodon idella Val. in Fadak farm –Basrah / Iraq

32 thousands of juveniles grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella were reared in Fadak fish farm about 15 g. They transferred from culture station Marine Science Center and spread equally four ponds each 8.5 donum. The density was 940 /donum the period 15/ May to December 2007. Total weight for nearest milligram taken monthly. Fishes fed daily with green alfalfa as a main food item rate 8-15% body aquatic plants Pharagmites australis Ceratophyllum demersum. Results at end experiment show that average total reached 1153.79 ± 4.78 gm while increase varied along months until December, where it noticed starting half June August 1.5± 0.221 gm/day, 4.6 0.712 gm/day 7.6 0.312 / day respectively then starts decrease during September Relative growth rates progressive first seven months. On other hand he specific showed its highest July (4.6 0.081 %/day).
